Handbells to ring in holidays: HPA students to perform at Thelma Parker library

The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Middle School Handbell Choir, under the direction of Georgia Polakova, will present a free holiday performance at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library in Waimea.

This is the group’s first appearance at the library and the public is invited.

The performance will be followed by light refreshments, hosted by the Friends of the Thelma Parker Memorial Public and School Library.

Musical highlights include “Carol of the Bells,” “Do You Hear What I Hear?” “Frosty the Snowman,” “Hatikva” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

The handbell choir has been part of the HPA Middle School experience since 1985. The choir consists of 17 students who take the semester-long class.

The Thelma Parker library is located at 67-1209 Mamalahoa Highway. Hours are 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 12:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
